Create WiFi Hotspot in Windows using CMD without software
Create a WiFi hotspot from Laptop on windows 10, windows 8.1, windows 7 using CMD (command prompt) without any software.
For this method you don’t require any kind of software and also It doesn’t require tweaking your machine.
Create WiFi Hotspot in Windows using CMD
First, open command prompt i.e cmd. This can be done in two best possible ways.
- Search for cmd through the start menu or desktop. Right-click on the cmd.exe option and choose Run as administrator.
- Or Press Windows + X + A to open the command prompt with administrative privileges by default.
Now a window will pop up, click YES, on doing so the command prompt will open.
Once the command prompt is open, Enter the following command as stated.
netsh wlan show drivers
press Enter This command will display information to help you confirm that your laptop can create a hotspot with Command Prompt. See for Hosted network support, If you see YES next to it, then it means that your laptop has the feature to create a wireless hotspot. If No is stated then this method will not work for you.
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=NETWORKNAME key=PASSWORD
- Replace NETWORKNAME with your choice of wifi hotspot name.
- Replace PASSWORD with your choice of password.
Press Enter . You have successfully configured your wifi hotspot in your laptop with hotspot name and password. Now, all we ned to do is to turn it on by typing following command.
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
Press Enter. This will switch on your Wireless hotspot.
As of now, your WiFi hotspot is live but it does not have any internet access. For that, we need a connection with proper working internet connection like Broadband, Wifi etc. This connection will be used by your newly created hotspot for internet.
Now the only thing we need to do is to share existing internet connection with WiFi hotspot. for that purpose:
Open My Computer or My PC. On the left panel where your computer drives are listed below that there is Network tab, Click it.
Now at the top panel click on Network and Sharing Center.
On the left panel click on change adapter settings.
Right click on your current working internet connection and go to Properties.
Click on sharing tab option on the top of the window.
Check the“Allow other network users to connect”box present at the top.
Click the box below the “Home networking connection” heading and choose the name of your hotspot. It will be something like Local area connection or WiFi hosted network.
Click OK to save all your settings. Now your hotspot is available to all devices present nearby your wifi and hence you finally created WiFi Hotspot in Laptop using CMD without any software in Windows.
